PRK - "PhotoRefractive Keratectomy" - PRK is a similar procedure to LASIK, except that in PRK a flap is not created as the first step of treatment. In PRK the layer of surface lining cells (called the "epithelium") is removed, and the excimer laser reshapes the front layers of corneal collagen. Like LASIK, PRK can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Although healing time is a bit longer than with LASIK, the visual results are equivalent.
PRK is recommended in certain situations over LASIK, related to corneal thickness , occupation (some military and law enforcement positions require PRK), and other factors.

Visian ICL - "Implantable Collamer Lens" - is an artificial lens that is implanted in front of the natural lens of the eye. Although it sounds complex, it’s a simple procedure with little downtime. ICLs are a great option for patients who wish to be free of glasses and contacts, but suffer from severe prescription levels that eliminate them from LASIK. The lenses provide excellent visual results, and are removable, so there is no risk of permanent vision issues.
