Patient Profiles

One of the best ways to learn about vision correction is to talk to, read about, and learn from people who have already had similar care. We invite you to browse here a very broad selection of profiles about our patients.

Our profiles include data on:

  1. Unaided vision before and after treatment;

  2. Prescription before and after treatment;

  3. Age, occupation, and photo (if provided);

  4. Certain special case concerns;

  5. Comments from patients; and

  6. Comments from Dr. Wallace.

We invite you to browse by the various treatment types listed in the 'right rail' (column at right).  Or, to review all patient profiles, simply select one of the featured patients, then the "Next" or "Previous" tabs on the individual profile pages.

These are real people, and their letters speak for themselves. To respect and protect the privacy of these patients, we have identified them only by first name in the letters published here.

Elaine M says:

Dear Dr. Wallace,

It is difficult to believe that more than two months have passed since my second cataract surgery. I no longer reach for my glasses when I get up in the morning and I can actually drive with my windows open because I don’t have to worry about dust getting under my contact lenses. Even more amazing, my world is no longer “brown.” I marvel each day at the brightness and clarity of my environment. It is miraculous!

As you remember, I had many concerns about the cataract procedure because I am very dependant on my vision. I appreciate your honest and straightforward responses to my questions. Your wonderful staff: Jessie, Walter, Norma, and Ruth are professional and warm. They immediately made me feel “at home” and set the stage for the miracles to come.

Despite my initial trepidation about the procedure, itself, I was surprised at how quickly it was over. It is a testament to your skill that it went without a hitch. By the evening after my first cataract was removed, I was already able to see more clearly. I was ready to make an appointment for my second procedure. My vision improved with each passing day. There was no discomfort or visible sign that anything had been done. The only noticeable effect was that I suddenly developed a “twinkle” in my eye, not a bad thing for a school director who wishes to appear kindly and understanding. My husband also noticed my eyes “lighting up” or “flashing” under certain lights. He found the effect sexy and interesting. Improved vision and sex appeal too! You can’t ask for more than that.

Words cannot express my gratitude for my “new outlook on life”. Everyday tasks and events have taken on a whole new dimension. I no longer have to contend with chronic headache pain and blurred and discolored vision. The world is a brighter place for me on many levels. The only down side is that I need to come up with another justification for my daughter as to why I cannot try out for Survivor, now that vision is no longer an issue. Now, if I could just win the monthly drawing for the free LASIK procedure . . . . . hmmm.

Many thanks,

Elaine
Grateful, clear-seeing client

Doctor Wallace says:

Elaine teaches a computer class at a local private school. Before corrective surgery, her eyeglass prescription was so strong that unless the lenses were small, the lens edge became too thick and heavy. With small-diameter lenses in her frames, there was not enough room for her to have trifocal lenses. This made it quite difficult to walk around in her computer class and see the monitors of her students when standing behind them.

We discussed her various options, and she felt more inclined to correct both eyes fully for distance. Her cataract care went smoothly, and she is very happy with her ""new"" vision.
