Patient Profiles

One of the best ways to learn about vision correction is to talk to, read about, and learn from people who have already had similar care. We invite you to browse here a very broad selection of profiles about our patients.

Our profiles include data on:

  1. Unaided vision before and after treatment;

  2. Prescription before and after treatment;

  3. Age, occupation, and photo (if provided);

  4. Certain special case concerns;

  5. Comments from patients; and

  6. Comments from Dr. Wallace.

We invite you to browse by the various treatment types listed in the 'right rail' (column at right).  Or, to review all patient profiles, simply select one of the featured patients, then the "Next" or "Previous" tabs on the individual profile pages.

These are real people, and their letters speak for themselves. To respect and protect the privacy of these patients, we have identified them only by first name in the letters published here.

Gary H says:

Doctor Wallace says:

Gary originally had his LASIK in August, '00 at one of the large corporate laser centers that is now bankrupt and closed. He came to me 22 months after his primary surgery, concerned that his vision was not "as clear as right after the surgery."

We found that his refraction measured as follows:
Right eye: -0.50 -0.25 x 30
Left eye: -0.50.-0.25 x 11

I advised Gary that this amount of "drift" in the prescription was normal and not unexpected in the almost 2 years since his initial care. This is because the eyes can change slowly over time, unrelated to LASIK. We chose to plan enhancement care for both eyes.

After the enhancement (in July '02), Gary observed that his vision was better, but that there was a small shadow in the peripheral vision on the right eye. I noticed a small area where cells had started to grow under the flap, and so removed them in a relatively easy, 5-minute process.

Since then, Gary's vision has been "Unbelievably clear". He is very happy, as am I.
