Patient Profiles

One of the best ways to learn about vision correction is to talk to, read about, and learn from people who have already had similar care. We invite you to browse here a very broad selection of profiles about our patients.

Our profiles include data on:

  1. Unaided vision before and after treatment;

  2. Prescription before and after treatment;

  3. Age, occupation, and photo (if provided);

  4. Certain special case concerns;

  5. Comments from patients; and

  6. Comments from Dr. Wallace.

We invite you to browse by the various treatment types listed in the 'right rail' (column at right).  Or, to review all patient profiles, simply select one of the featured patients, then the "Next" or "Previous" tabs on the individual profile pages.

These are real people, and their letters speak for themselves. To respect and protect the privacy of these patients, we have identified them only by first name in the letters published here.

Doctor Wallace says:

Jonathan is definitely on the young side for LASIK. He and his parents were referred to me by a friend of theirs who had received LASIK previously through my office. Jonathan is a very tall (6'7") and very talented basketball player who will be attending college on an athletic scholarship this fall. He found it impossible to play while wearing glasses, and had never had good luck with contacts. His motivation to have LASIK was very strong, as he wants to perform at the top of his potential. His parents also wanted the best for him, but naturally had the worries that any parent has, regarding options like LASIK.

Jonathan also had very large pupils, so I recommended treatment on the laser that in my opinion provides the best results for eyes with large pupils, the Alson LADARVision system. We did his treatment in August of '03. The following morning he read the tiniest letters on the eye chart, and in his too-cool, understated style, commented "I guess this is pretty good.."

He has since noticed that his court sense, depth perception, and shooting comfort are all very noticeably improved, compared to before LASIK. We wish him the best in his college experience. Jonathan's Dad is thrilled that his son now sees so well. The downside is that when the two play golf, Jonathan now routinely kicks butt on the course, and Dad has to buy lunch...

Oh, well...
