Sally H says:

I have worn glasses and/or contacts since first grade. I was hopeful that when PRK was discovered, I could have a chance to see without any aids. I went to a my doctor and he advised against it in my case.

Then last year, I began to research LASIK, and visited Dr. Wallace at the recommendation of a friend. I liked him - he seemed very personable, quite competent, and his staff were immensely helpful and professional.

I went to two other doctors and researched excimer lasers. I discovered that some other centers do not use FDA-approved lasers! Dr. Wallace uses the VISX machine. I immediately crossed the other centers off my list, even though one was less expensive.

I got my sight on Feb. 27, 1999! The day of surgery was low stress and the procedure was over within minutes. I then went to a baseball game for three hours, eye shields and all! The point is, I felt pretty good. I then rested and went to sleep early, to awaken to much clearer vision and a beautiful day. Dr. Wallace was there to greet me on a Sunday. Since that time, I have gone in twice and plan to go back in a few weeks to monitor my healing progress.

I started wearing mascara in about 10 days. I still use moisture drops. My vision is very close to 20/20 in both eyes. I would highly recommend the procedure to anyone!

Doctor Wallace says:

Sally had very significant myopia, at the upper range of what LASIK is able to nicely correct. Her nearsightedness was so profound that, without correction, anything further than 3 inches in front of her eyes was blurry! Several factors made her a good candidate for laser care, including favorable measurements of corneal thickness, pupil size in darkness, and corneal topography, among others. I am very pleased with her result, and I know she is, too -- I can see it in her smile.
