and from Douglas' wife:
Dr. Wallace,
Fabulous website! I'm forwarding it on to my sight-challenged, bigbaby, "I-just-don't-know-any-doctor-I-trust" friends. Also, a huge thanks to you & the whole staff for the incredible miracle you did for Doug. He looks rather silly driving around in his convertible proudly wearing that LA Sight baseball cap with his suit on - pointing to your logo to anyone who will glance his way, but, heck happiness expresses itself in lots of forms.
Happy holidays. You made ours.
Carol
Dr. Wallace's Comments:
Douglas was phenomenally nearsighted, starting as he did in the -15.00 range. For him, LASIK alone would not have been a good option. We recommended lens replacement surgery, a modification of modern cataract-style surgery. Due to the special needs that pertain to anyone as nearsighted as Doug, we asked him to see a retina specialist in consultation prior to planning our own surgical care.Doug had uneventful lens implant surgery in both eyes in '05. We intended to make his right eye nearsighted and have his left eye be optimally corrected for distance. He did need a tiny touch-up with LASIK for the right eye, and with this achieved his ideal target.Doug teaches Constitutional law at Pepperdine, now with the ability to see participants in the auditorium and read notes from the lectern, all without glasses. We are pleased and honored to have been able to help him in this regard.Dr. Wallace
