LIVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA, LASIK IN LA

LIVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA, LASIK IN LA

Doctor Wallace says:
Brett is a really nice fellow who lives in South Carolina. His business brings him to LA not infrequently, and he found out about us through our website. He had visited several other laser centers near his home but was told that he was not a good candidate for treatment.

When sometimes uses the phrase “you are not a good candidate” it can mean one of several things. It can mean that there is an anatomic distortion of the cornea, or that the cornea is too thin to tolerate necessary laser sculpting. It may mean that the prescription of the eye is beyond the range for treatment using the equipment at a particular center. Fortunately, in Brett’s case, they meant the latter.

Brett did have very significant farsightedness and astigmatism. On any laser other than the Allegretto, I might have advised against treatment myself. But we have been very favorably impressed with our results using this laser, even including corrections in this high range of farsighted astigmatism treatment. I advised Brett that we could treat and that he would likely achieve an excellent result, but that he might also anticipate needing an enhancement or touch-up with somewhat greater frequency than the ‘garden-variety’ nearsighted patient (where our enhancement rate is ~ 2.6%). Brett was delighted with the news and decided to proceed.

I cautioned him not to expect “perfect” right away, so we were both surprised when he saw the “20/20” leters cleanly with each eye on the day after treatment. He should do quite nicely. We will look forward to seeing him whenever his travels bring him through Southern California again!
