Last month, while filming a TV show in Canada, my improv ability and grace under pressure were put to the test when, mid-shoot on a live-show, I discovered that I could not see my lines on the teleprompter to save my life! Living with poor eyesight for 18 years had finally caught up with me and it was beginning to affect my career! Thanks to some decent acting ability and a serious “gift for gab,” I managed to improv my way through the entire show without anyone knowing any better. But by the end of it, I had decided, enough was enough, it was time to make a change!
So I bit the bullet, did my research, ponied up the cash and 3 days ago went under the laser for the Lasik eye surgery procedure. I learned so much in the process and found the most fabulous doctor in West Los Angeles. The entire surgery was done over my one-hour lunch break and after just a day of some pain and meds, I woke up the following morning with an entirely new lease on life!
I now have 20/15 vision (which is better than 20/20, in case you didn’t know.) and I am experiencing life as a complete miracle! Only other four-eyes will truly relate…for the very first time, I saw my face in the mirror just after stepping out of the shower…I must admit I had to stare for a minute because it was so strange to see myself as something other than a blurry shadow. My husband caught me staring in the mirror and said, “Don’t go getting all cocky on me now!” =) On the other hand, I can also stand on the scale for the first time without glasses and read my weight in unmistakable, bright red numbers, so don’t worry, Babe, arrogance is still a long way off!
I felt compelled to write though, as an expression of thanks for the new gift of sight and if you’ve got it, don’t take it for granted…it truly is a gift and one I am experiencing for the first time as never before and I am bursting to share with anyone who is interested in knowing more for themselves. So just shoot me an email and I’ll tell you everything I know!
And I guess I finally have permission to say:
GOODBYE FOUR-EYES! COOL IS HERE TO STAY!!! (;->)
Doctor Wallace says:
Charity is a very bright, talented, high-energy woman who suffers no fools. She knows what she wants and takes the right steps to make it happen; this applies to her personal life, her work, and her medical care. She has done some TV work as a host for a show similar to “American Idol” (shot for British TV) and is starting a daily talk show as one of a group of ‘anchor’ hosts. She’s been so pleased with the results of her LASIK care that she blogged about it on her own FaceBook page – (re-posted above). At the one-year anniversary of her care she told me that, for her, LASIK was the best thing she had ever done for herself. When a beautiful woman tells you this with a straight face, it’s hard not to blush (:->).
