AFTER LASIK, I WANT MY SON TO DO THIS
Doctor Wallace says:
David came to me extremely skeptical about LASIK. Being a film editor, he felt torn by two opposing emotions. On the one hand he was excited and highly motivated to get rid of his glasses and strong prescription. On the other hand, since his vision is so critical to his work and his life, he was terrified about something going wrong.
In my experience, almost everyone who seeks consultation for vision correction is secretly struggling with the same two opposing forces. One internal voice is urging, “Go, get LASIK! Now!” while another voice is saying, “Be careful! Wait. Maybe it won’t turn out like you want.”
At LA Sight, our goal is to educate, inform, and assist people with this decision process. We feel that good information, great surgical care, attention to detail, and my personal involvement with care both before and after any surgery helps create the right environment for consistently solid results. While some laser centers use “pressure” tactics, arm-twisting, and other sales techniques to ‘capture the business’, we do no such thing.
David made his decision to have LASIK based on his own review of the information available, including speaking to several patients from our office who had received LASIK.
One of the other truths about this type of medical care is that often, the most apprehensive clients (before the fact) are transformed into the happiest recipients of care afterwards. I think that is certainly true in David’s case.
When I last saw David in August ’02, he asked me how soon his son could have LASIK!
