I opened my eyes to a new world, literally, in March of 2003. I had been wearing glasses and/or contacts since the 3rd grade, and every year my eyesight had gotten progressively worse. As a child, a trip to the eye doctor was like a trip to the dentist; only instead of “How many holes are we going to drill in your teeth?”, it was, “How much thicker are we going to make your lenses, to make you look even more awkward as a teenager.”
By the time I was prepared to have LASIK, my prescription was an astounding –10 at the age of 29. It was time, and I was ready.
I couldn’t be more pleased with my decision to go with Dr. Wallace and his team at LA Sight for my surgery. I did the necessary extensive research before choosing a doctor by speaking to numerous colleagues and friends, surfing the internet and calling various doctor’s offices and asking questions. It was important to me to have a doctor who was not only an expert @ performing the procedure, but a doctor who would have hands-on involvement in the aftercare. From Day One, Dr. Wallace and his staff have been outstanding in educating me on all of my options, what to expect and most importantly, achieving the results I had hoped for. Today, I’d like to say a million and one thanks to Dr. Wallace, Walter, Ruth and Norma for my 20/20 vision. What Freedom, what a Gift, what a Difference!
Doctor Wallace says:
Edie had her original surgery in March of ’03, and we did ‘tweak’ things a bit with enhancement for both eyes in June of ’03. She is now an astounding 20/20 uncorrected, in both eyes, with no complaint of glare, halo, or night vision difficulties.
Edie’s pre-op prescription in the range of -10 definitely is at the upper range of what I feel comfortable treating with LASIK. I advise everyone who’s prescription is this strong not to expect ‘perfection’ as a goal, cautioning that more often than not there will be some glare, or halo, or a sense that one’s vision, while clear, is “not crystal”. It is reassuring to know that excellent results can be obtained with even very high starting prescriptions.
