Doctor Wallace says:
Jonathan is definitely on the young side for LASIK. He and his parents were referred to me by a friend of theirs who had received LASIK previously through my office. Jonathan is a very tall (6’7″) and very talented basketball player who will be attending college on an athletic scholarship this fall. He found it impossible to play while wearing glasses, and had never had good luck with contacts. His motivation to have LASIK was very strong, as he wants to perform at the top of his potential. His parents also wanted the best for him, but naturally had the worries that any parent has, regarding options like LASIK.
Jonathan also had very large pupils, so I recommended treatment on the laser that in my opinion provides the best results for eyes with large pupils, the Alcon LADARVision system. We did his treatment in August of ’03. The following morning he read the tiniest letters on the eye chart, and in his too-cool, understated style, commented “I guess this is pretty good..”
He has since noticed that his court sense, depth perception, and shooting comfort are all very noticeably improved, compared to before LASIK. We wish him the best in his college experience. Jonathan’s Dad is thrilled that his son now sees so well. The downside is that when the two play golf, Jonathan now routinely kicks butt on the course, and Dad has to buy lunch…
