My name is Lynelle. I’m a psychotherapist, and my goal is to help people examine and gain insight about themselves and their relationships with others. One key area of focus, in my opinion, is to examine and work through one’s fear and its consequent limitations, learning instead to be receptive to possibilities for positive change.
One of the themes I lecture about is “”How You Invest in Yourself.”” Taking risks and moving forward in life is necessary and important for growth. This requires both courage and strength. I had been interested in the new laser eye surgery, but had been afraid to take action, until I met Dr. Wallace.
I discussed LASIK with he and his staff in detail. After discussing, analyzing, and imagining my own life without my glasses and contacts, I decided to go ahead, even though I felt some fear and uncertainty. I prayed and knew that everything would turn out OK.
My vision now is unbelievably clear. I am happy beyond what these words can convey. I guess my take home lesson (offered, if it applies, to others who may read this) is: We all have some fear of change, and much fear when it comes to surgery on our eyes. Be aware of the fear but do not be afraid to take action, especially if it’s in your best interest and will enhance your life. And trust that Dr. Wallace will do a terrific job!

Lynelle is a very perceptive and articulate woman. I knew she would be thrilled with her results. Her comments come straight from the heart. It sounds a little corny after the fact, but she was indeed quite anxious beforehand. I talked with her about her fears, her hopes, and the process of laser care. Reassuring her in this fashion helped her confront and overcome her fear, I think. Part of my job is of course to be an excellent technical surgeon, but sometimes I and my staff play the role of coach, counselor, and ‘rooting section’ for those to whom we give care.
