Being a finicky person to the max and having interviewed with over 10 other LASIK centers, I am happy to report that after much time spent investigating, I arrived at the best possible choice for laser eye correction surgery: Dr. David Wallace. Both Dr. Wallace and his assistant, Ruth, took quality time in proving to me that this was a superior practice, and not just another of the LASIK ‘mills’ one finds all over L.A.
Ruth detailed Dr. Wallace’s formidable expertise in laser care, explaining that he very much loved being in surgery where he has safely helped a multitude of people succeed in their vision goals. Dr. Wallace is not only a heads-above expert in laser treatment itself, but is renowned for expertly creating the crucial surgical flap, underneath which the laser is done.
I was extremely anxious right before my LASIK. Ruth lovingly and expertly explained exactly what steps were involved. She offered to video tape everything which I could watch from the comfort of my home afterwards. I was sedated, but still anxious. The surgical assistant calmed me further by telling me that Dr. Wallace is very highly regarded according to other professionals that know him and his work. Finally, Dr. Wallace himself arrived and further detailed the procedure. He could see I was nervous, yet showed great care and patience in allaying my fears.
The procedure itself was over in no time. Dr. Wallace explained every step of the way what would happen, what I would feel. No pain, maybe some pressure at one point. He counted out loud the actual time the laser was on each eye, 40 seconds for one, 60 seconds for the other.
My vision was somewhat blurry right after, but overnight became incredibly clear out of the “distance” eye, and perfect for reading in the other. Right on target! My follow up care was assured; I was even offered the opportunity of a future adjustment should I opt to do so. Having been very nearsighted, when I came in for my first eye exam the following morning I was thrilled.
Both Ruth and Dr. Wallace have made this a truly pleasant experience, as opposed to a scary ordeal. I would highly recommend Dr. Wallace to anyone who demands quality eye care with a truly caring and personal touch.
