Since my surgery , I have been able to train and compete hassle free from contacts and glasses. It has been a rewarding experience, not only in making my training easier, but also my competing …which might explain my 2nd place finish in the sprint division in the 34-39 female category of the Los Angeles Triathlon!!!
Thanks, Dr. Dave!

Doctor Wallace says:
Sherry came to me very well-informed about methods of vision correction, and highly motivated due to her commitment to competitive sports. She did have a significant concern pertaining to a health condition. Several years ago Sherry had an episode of optic neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve) involving the left eye, and was told by another doctor that she may possibly have multiple sclerosis (“MS”).
Medical experts diverge in their opinions as to whether LASIK is appropriate in someone who has had optic neuritis. I reviewed the recommendations, both for and against LASIK with Sherry. My recommendation was to proceed with treatment only in the right eye, which had not suffered the optic neuritis event, and was the more nearsighted eye anyway.
Sherry is indeed very pleased with the results of her care, as are we. And we are thrilled with her recent finish in the LA Triathlon. Way to go, girl!
