I have been wearing glasses since I was a little girl – pink frames, black slim pointy frames, BIG round fat frames, wire frames, plastic tortoise frames. Then I graduated to contact lenses for 10 years – hard, soft, gas permeable, semi-soft, bifocal until I couldn’t wear them anymore. How I longed to be able to see without these!! Wearing glasses prevented me from partaking in activities I’ve always wanted to do – learning how to swim because I couldn’t see, playing some sports unless I was wearing protective eye wear, afraid of falling and breaking my glasses because I could get glass in my eye.
Then one day at my company’s health fair in July, 2001, I was introduced to a representative from Dr. Wallace’s office, LA Sight. After asking a myriad of questions about the LASIK procedure, what type of machine he uses, how long does it take, etc., I decided it was time for me to GO FOR IT – and I did. I had my procedure the very next week. I couldn’t believe that the day after surgery, I woke up and saw the leaves on the trees outside my bedroom window and DROVE MYSELF to my checkup with just my sunglasses on!
Since then, everything has changed – my life, my looks, my attitude and best of all my sight! I chose to have my distance corrected to where I do not need glasses at all except to read – what a difference that is from being dependent on them all the time.
My name is Susan and I’m a legal secretary at the law firm of Sidley, Austin, Brown & Wood LLP in Los Angeles, CA. I still look around for my glasses every now and then – but I have to remind myself that I’ve donated them for other individuals to use.
Thank you Dr. Wallace for all you have done. Your caring personality and demeanor convinced me to put my trust in you not only as a doctor, but also as a human being. You are my 20/20 kind of guy!!
