Absolutely NO GIMMICK! I was skeptical at first due to the low price of LA Sight. I checked out a couple of other places as well (some that took my insurance) but LA sight definitely set the expectations too high. The reason they are able to keep the prices low is that they don’t deal with insurance and they own all their equipment. The next best place that took my insurance wanted to charge me $3000 per eye – AFTER insurance!
Here were a few things that stood out to me:
– Simplicity in making an appointment and their willingness to be flexible with my schedule
– the almost no wait time for my appointment, when i walked in, i was seen within 10 minutes
– the cleanliness and organization (shows me that they value their presentation) – some other places had boxes and pamphlets spread throughout their office
– beauty and brightness; they made sure the waiting room is beautiful and brightly lit and made sure the rooms where they check on you and hold you before and after surgery were comfortable with dim lighting.
I made my first appointment on October 24. Pre-op on Nov 14, operation on November 17, and post op on November 18. Dr Wallace and his team made sure i knew what i was getting myself into, made sure my eyes were healthy for surgery and the rest is history. I had glasses for 10+ years, my prescription was a -4.
Timeline: I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment, they did a last minute check on my eyes, sat me down in a calm sensory room immediately prior to surgery, gave me 10 mg of Valium to decrease anxiety and help me sleep post procedure, and laid me down on the operating table, gave my boyfriend headphones so he could see the procedure on a videoscreen and hear the operating room, they put drops in my eyes, held my eyes open with tape and then used some plastic thing to make sure my eyes wouldn’t close, put a cylindrical object on my eye which would open the flap (I opted for the Lasik with the mechanical blade ($1250 per eye)) and i did my best to stare at the green light for a few seconds, Dr closed the flap and one eye was done; repeat second eye.
Dr. Wallace talked to me and reassured me throughout the procedure (which took less than 10 minutes), eyesight was a bit blurry right off the operating table but within 20 minutes, improved drastically, i was able to read the clock! By the next day, driving to my post-op, i was able to see each individual leaf on the trees with no problems.
Thank you Dr Wallace, I will be making sure to send all my friends and family your way for their Lasik surgeries!
