A trademarked name arising from the combination of the terms “collagen” and “polymer” that describes the material used in manufacture of the Staar Visian ICL. The ICL (for “internal collamerlens” is made in part from colagen and in part from some hydrogel polymer; hydrogel refers to the class of materials that are used to manufacture soft contact lenses.
